Purpose of the Policy
The Major Disruption Policy exists to protect both guests and hosts when unforeseeable events make it impossible, unsafe, or illegal to complete a booking as originally planned. These events must occur after a reservation is confirmed and must prevent the guest from traveling to the destination or the host from delivering the stay or experience.
What Qualifies as a Major Disruption?
To qualify under this policy, the disruption must fall into one of the following categories:
Natural Disasters
Earthquakes, wildfires, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, or volcanic eruptions that affect the property or surrounding region.
Government Travel Restrictions or Advisories
Imposed bans on travel, shelter-in-place orders, closed borders, or mandatory evacuations.
Public Health Emergencies
Sudden illness or quarantine requirements related to a pandemic, with proper medical or government-issued documentation.
Infrastructure Failures
Major power outages, broken water systems, heating failures, or structural damage that renders the listing unsafe or inaccessible.
Safety and Security Threats
Violent unrest, riots, or confirmed neighborhood dangers that make the location unsafe for guests.
Host Emergencies
Verified personal emergencies such as a death in the family, hospitalization, or unexpected legal issues that prevent the host from accommodating guests.
What Does Not Qualify?
Personal scheduling conflicts or change of plans
Transportation delays due to traffic, strikes, or missed flights (unless caused by qualifying disruption)
Weather inconvenience (e.g., light snow, minor rain) that doesn’t prevent check-in
Ongoing issues known at the time of booking (e.g., planned road construction)
Resolution Options Under This Policy
If a reservation qualifies under the Major Disruption Policy, Bhostd may offer one of the following options:
Full refund to the guest
Credit toward a future Bhostd booking
Reschedule the stay or experience for a later date (when both parties agree)
Host payout protection, if the disruption was truly uncontrollable and documented

You must submit your request within 72 hours of the disruptive event or its discovery.

Policy Impact on Hosts
If a host qualifies for disruption protection, they may retain a partial or full payout depending on circumstances. Hosts must cooperate with support investigations and respond promptly to guest concerns.
Repeat abuse of the Major Disruption Policy, including false claims or failure to communicate in good faith, may result in listing removal or account suspension.
