Standard Cancellation Policy

Overview

 

Bhostd recognizes the importance of both guest flexibility and host reliability. Our cancellation policies allow hosts to choose how strict or flexible they want their booking terms to be. Guests are encouraged to carefully review the policy on a listing before confirming their reservation. Cancellation terms are automatically enforced by the platform based on timestamps and are clearly communicated in every booking.


Available Cancellation Tiers


Flexible

Guests may cancel up to 5 days before check-in to receive a full refund. If canceled within 5 days of check-in, the first night is non-refundable and 50% of the remaining nights will be refunded. Hosts forfeit their payout proportionally based on the refund issued to the guest.

 

Moderate

Guests may cancel up to 7 days before check-in to receive a full refund. If canceled within 7 days of check-in, 50% of the total booking amount is refunded. Hosts retain 50% of the payout.

 

Firm

Guests may cancel 14 or more days before check-in for a full refund. If canceled between 7 to 13 days before check-in, a 50% refund is given. Cancellations less than 7 days before check-in are non-refundable. Hosts keep payouts for non-refundable portions.

 

Strict

If a guest cancels within 48 hours of booking and more than 14 days before check-in, they receive a full refund. Otherwise, if the cancellation occurs 7 or more days before check-in, they receive a 50% refund. No refund is granted for cancellations under 7 days. Hosts retain 50% or full payout depending on the timing.

 

Non-Refundable (Discounted)

Guests accept a lower rate in exchange for zero refund eligibility. There are no refunds for cancellations at any time. Hosts receive the full payout unless they themselves initiate a cancellation.


How Guests Cancel

 

Guests can cancel a reservation at any time from the Your Trips page. The refund amount will be calculated automatically based on the listing’s cancellation policy and the time left before check-in. The refund breakdown is displayed instantly before confirmation.


Refund Processing Timeline

 

  • Refunds are initiated within 24 hours of cancellation

  • Funds typically appear on the original payment method within 5–10 business days

  • Guests can track refund status on the Completed Transactions page


Cancellation by Host

 

If a host cancels a reservation for any reason:

 

  • Guest receives a 100% refund, regardless of policy

  • Bhostd may assist in finding a comparable stay at no additional cost

  • Hosts may face penalties: removal of Instant Booking, temporary suspension, or payout hold


Extenuating Circumstances Exception

 

In rare situations such as verified illness, severe weather, or government travel bans, guests may request an override of the cancellation policy under the Major Disruption Policy. Requests must be made within 72 hours of the event and supported by documentation.


Additional Notes for Hosts

 

  • Once a guest books, the cancellation policy cannot be altered

  • Hosts should clearly describe cancellation rules in the listing details

  • If a host offers to refund outside the platform, both parties must confirm this agreement in writing through the Inbox for it to be honored


Policy Violations
 

Bhostd strictly prohibits refund manipulation, off-platform settlements, or fake cancellations. Violations may result in removal of listings, financial penalties, or permanent suspension.
